After the Course

Join our Alumni Area

Workshop alumni successes include publication in The Stinging Fly, Electric Literature, swamp pink, phoebe, The Kenyon Review and Wigleaf. They have had their work featured in anthologies, published full-lenth projects, signed with agents, and have been shortlisted or received prizes such as the European Press Prize, the ALR Essay Prize, the Stinging Fly/FBA Fiction Prize and the Fitzcarraldo Editions Essay Prize.

After finishing your course, stay in touch with fellow writers in our online alumni community, for ongoing support and inspiration as you continue to explore and develop your work. You can revisit your course materials, keep working in a private area with your classmates, join monthly live events with authors, editors and agents, and network with our wider writing community. There’s no cost for this.

Dedicated Agent Pitch Space

Agents are invited to access an exclusive online pitching forum for our alumni, where you can upload a book proposal and query letter for review. New agents are invited quarterly.

Monthly Guest Q&As

Each month we invite a guest for a live Q&A Zoom session open to all alumni. Previous guests include authors Rowan Hisayo Buchanan, Miranda France, Juliet Jacques, Marina Benjamin, Emmanuel Iduma, Jennifer Kabat, John Connell and Tom Bullough, alongside Granta editors and literary agents, including Jordan Hill of New Leaf Literary and Matthew Marland of RCW Literary Agency.

Free submission to the Magazine

All our alumni enjoy an exclusive Submittable link to submit work to the magazine for free.

Testimonials

You often hear that being a writer is a lonely occupation but for me, the Alumni Area is a place where I go to be a part of a wonderful and supportive community. Over the years, I have found advice on many writing-related questions, a wealth of live and recorded author interviews and QAs and writing competitions. I also find the weekly Sit and Write sessions amazing for keeping a regular writing practice, staying accountable, sharing writerly frustrations and often simply a good laugh!
